The Houston Texans want to make a big splash in the league.
It’s long been said that you’ve got to beat the best to be the best, and DeMeco Ryans’ team won’t back down from any matchup or challenge.
With that in mind, franchise legend J.J. Watt would love to see this young and exciting team going at it against the reigning Super Bowl champions to kick off the season.
In a recent press conference, Watt claimed that he wants the Texans to open up the year against Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs, stating that the league always favors big matchups and that it would obviously be great to watch him going at it vs. C.J. Stroud (Via KPRC2 & Aaron Wilson).

The Chiefs lost last year’s season opener and struggled to find their best form before getting back to the mountaintop in the playoffs and taking care of business in the big game.
The Texans, on the other hand, proved that they were no fluke by keeping their foot on the gas after an impressive start to the campaign, with Stroud having one of the greatest rookie seasons in league history.
Nick Caserio has made sure to give him more weapons in the offseason, and the Texans look like a legitimate dark horse to come not only out of the AFC South but out of the conference as a whole as well.
The league should definitely take Watt’s suggestion into consideration, as that would be a can’t-miss matchup.
