Although the San Francisco 49ers ended the Green Bay Packers’ season last week, the team’s potential in the years to come is very promising. Add the possible addition of Ezekiel Elliot to the roster, and things will certainly be more interesting for the league’s youngest lineup.
Throughout the Packers’ run this season, people saw how the keys to the kingdom were handed to Jordan Love as the team’s quarterback. Coming from a trade that sent Aaron Rodgers to the New York Jets, this is a surprising development since Love wasn’t expected to be this good right away.
However, the Packers’ final game against the 49ers saw the team make crucial mistakes, such as Love’s wild pass to no one and Anders Carlson’s missed kick. These lapses ended up costing Green Bay the chance to advance to the NFC championship, and even possibly, the Super Bowl.
That could change next season when the Packers get the chance to add experience and more talent, either via the draft or signing free agents to the team.
Green Bay Packers Projected to Get Ezekiel Elliot For Next Season
The Packers seem to be a good landing spot for Ezekiel Elliot after his stint with the New England Patriots, according to NFL analyst Maurice Jones-Drew.
In his free agent analysis for next season:
Elliott had the worst statistical campaign of his career in his first season outside of Dallas, but I largely chalk that up to playing in a lackluster Patriots offense that never found its identity with Mac Jones and Bailey Zappe under center. Likely headed elsewhere with New England trending toward a major rebuild, the veteran could join a young Packers team on a low-end deal, with Green Bay’s bruiser back, AJ Dillon, headed for free agency himself. Zeke would pair well with Aaron Jones, providing a physical element to the run game. Plus, Zeke’s a guy who could carry the load if Jones can’t stay healthy,” Jones-Drew wrote.
Adding Elliot to the lineup certainly has its advantages. Whether the Packers pull this signing off or not remains to be seen in the offseason. In any case, this is one target worth signing for Green Bay.
