Dallas Cowboys Officially Sign First Round Pick To $13 Million Deal

The Dallas Cowboys did not make many splashy picks in the 2024 NFL Draft but filled some areas of need. One area they invested in was the offensive line. They were able to trade down in the first round and still get one of the top offensive linemen in the class in Tyler Guyton. As rookie camps have started, many of the rookies are starting to sign their contracts. The Cowboys officially signed Guyton to his rookie deal.

Dallas Cowboys Sign Tyler Guyton

The Dallas Cowboys signed Tyler Guyton to a four-year, $13 million deal. He gets just over six million in a signing bonus. The team hopes Guyton can become their starting left tackle this season. They lost long-time starter Tyron Smith in free agency, and even when he was on the team, he struggled with injuries. Guyton knows he has some big shoes to fill and is a fan of Smith.

“I was a big Tyron Smith fan my whole life because he plays for my team. He plays for my favorite team and once I started playing the offensive line position, knowing that he’s one of the best to ever do it, was kind of amazing for me.”

The Dallas Cowboys have had elite offensive lines in the past decade, which has been a huge part of their success. They hope Guyton can be the next great tackle and help protect the blind side of Dak Prescott.

Pressure In 2024

There isn’t another team that has as much pressure as the Dallas Cowboys. Mike McCarthy is on the hot seat. Dak Prescott’s future with the team is in question and likely depends on what the team does this season. CeeDee Lamb and Micah Parsons remain unsigned to long-term deals. This may be the last ride for the team in its current form. The good news for the team is the NFC is the weaker of the two conferences. However, getting to the playoffs doesn’t seem to be the issue. For this season to be a success, they have to make a deep playoff run.

While there are questions for this season, the Dallas Cowboys built for the future in this year’s draft. On top of Tyler Guyton, they picked up Cooper Beebe from Kansas State, who could also start this year on the line. As always, Dallas is one of the most intriguing teams to watch in 2024.
