As the Indianapolis Colts continue into the heart of the offseason workout program, there are still chances to add more talent to the roster.

Sitting with a comfortable amount of salary-cap space coming out of the draft, the Colts certainly have the resources to make a final significant move before summer break hits.

A suggestion coming from Gordon McGuinness of Pro Football Focus, he believes the Colts should look toward adding some backfield depth.

Jonathan Taylor signed a multi-year contract extension with the Colts last season, keeping him in Indianapolis through the end of the 2026 season. Beyond him, the Colts have just 92 NFL carries on their roster, with 78 of those coming from Trey Sermon.

An expanded role for Evan Hull, whom Indianapolis drafted in the fifth round in 2023, seems likely, but another veteran addition wouldn’t be a surprise.

The Colts seem content with their current backfield behind Taylor, who is looking to play his first fully healthy season since 2021.

The combination of Trey Sermon, Tyler Goodson and Evan Hull isn’t going to strike fear in the hearts of many opponents. Adding a viable change-of-pace back might not be a bad idea. Even so, the Colts have a strong enough run game to where adding another veteran back likely isn’t a top priority.

Instead, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to add more depth to the secondary. But the Colts seem pretty content there as well despite the question marks.
